7 Tips For Getting Listed In Search Engines

Author: Jon Roussel

Getting listed in search engines is very important for internet
marketers. A high search engine ranking for your website is
critical if you want to generatel your own leads that will
convert into signups and sales. This article discusses the keys
to getting listed in search engines.

The higher your page comes up in search engine results, the
greater the traffic that is directed to your website. That's
what search engine optimization is about.

1. To increase search engine rankings, the words on your home
page's title bar should include the most important keywords or
phrases, one of which would include your business name.

2. Then click on all your links and examine the title bars on
the pages you access. Each title bar on every single page of
your site should contain the most important keywords and phrases
taken from the page itself. However, avoid very long strings of
keyword. It is usually best to keep them to six words or less.

3. Your website content also plays a crucial role in getting
listed in search engines. Search engines generally list sites
that contain quality content The text on your site must contain
the most important keywords, the words that potential customers
will be typing into search engines to find your site.

4. Each page on your site should contain around 250 words, but
if this is not desirable due to your design, shoot for at least
100 carefully chosen words. This text is essential to achieve a
high page ranking.

5. To find out if your text is in HTML format, take your cursor
and try to highlight a word or two. If you can to do this, the
text is HTML.

6. Next are what is called meta tags. These are just simple
code. They only have a small effect in getting listed in search
engines.

7. Finally, we come to the issue of link popularity. This is
very important in terms of search engine rankings. Almost all
search engines use link popularity to rank your website. Link
popularity is based on the quality of the sites you have linked
to from your links page.

If you type in "free link popularity check" in a popular search
engine, the search engine will then show you what sites are
linked to your site.

Linking to popular, quality sites not only boosts your search
engine ranking, but it also directs more quality traffic to your
website.

Search engine rankings are extremely important for a successful
Internet marketing campaign. Before you go out and hire a search
engine optimization company, try taking some of the simple steps
listed above, and see if you can't boost your rankings yourself.
Don't ever ignore this all-important factor in Internet
marketing.

To check your link popularity, an easy and free tool to try is

Getting listed in search engines is not all that difficult when
you follow a few simple methods and use a system that creates
quality links.

Internet Marketing: Are You Using These Top 7 Resources
to Get Traffic?

Author: Jinger Jarrett

The number one question I always get from my readers is: "How do I get
more traffic to my site?" What these sites all seem to have in common
is that the owner has failed to do two things: build a list and market.

If you add a subscription box to your site or blog, and then start
driving traffic to your site, then the list building will take care of
itself.

Below are some of my best traffic strategies for continuously driving a
lot of traffic to your site and building your list.

1. Search Engines
If you plan to optimize your website, then use keyword phrases that
have at least three to four words. These keyword phrases are more
targeted, and visitors are more likely to buy. You'll also have less
competition for these keywords.

Make sure you submit your site to the top search engines. Otherwise, it
could take months to get spidered by Google and Yahoo. With MSN, if
you don't submit, your site may never show up as MSN doesn't index every
site that is submitted to it.

2. Directories
Directories are an easy way to build backlinks without creating
content. It's also an easy way to raise your rankings in the search engines.

Although you should submit to as many general directories as possible,
it's also a good idea to get included in as many directories on your
topic as possible. Since these directories are more targeted, your
visitors will be more targeted.

3. Free Classifieds
It's getting harder and harder to make money online without a website
unless you want to spend money. If you're just starting out, then free
classifieds are the way to go because you can test and track your
efforts.

Make sure you read the guidelines for each site and follow the
guidelines closely. Otherwise you could get banned from the site or accused of
spamming.

Write a good ad and headline, and again, test and track.

4. Forums
With forums you can build relationships. Forums are also a good place
to look for ideas to find out what others want to buy. Ask questions,
answer questions, build relationships, and get ideas for your business.

5. Squidoo
This site offers one of the easiest ways online to make money, and you
can build these little "minisites" fast. Since these little sites rank
high on Google, it's another easy way to get the message out about your
products and services or even promote affiliate programs. It's also an
easy backlink technique for your site.

6. Social Networking
This internet marketing technique is like forums on steroids. Not only
can you build relationships, but you can also advertise your business,
join groups and forums, and use Web 2.0 resources like blogs and videos
to get your message out.

7. Social Bookmarking
Social bookmarking is building a list of your favorite links. If you're
a business owner, then you're also submitting news and information
about your business.

With social bookmarking, you're actually building backlinks. This is
also a way to share what you know, and social bookmarking is the
considered to be the new search.

Social bookmark sites are where visitors go now to find what they're
looking for. It includes sites like Digg, Del.icio.us, and others.

Article Writing: Duplicate Content VS. Reaching Your
Readers

Author: Jinger Jarrett

I certainly wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for all of the
wonderful article directories that have published my articles.

By publishing my articles, these article directories have allowed me to
syndicate my articles on hundreds, possibly thousands of websites
throughout the internet.

These directories have also allowed me to brand myself as an expert,
build valuable backlinks to my websites, and share my knowledge with my
potential customers and readers.

The problem these days seems to be those product owners who are more
interested in creating phony trends than they are real products.

These products are supposed to tell you if you have "duplicate content"
in your articles, sales letters, and other materials you're posting
online.

The problem here is that there are only so many words in the language
you speak. Someone, sooner or later, will use the same phrase to say
something.

I highly doubt that the search engines are so interested in whether or
not you're using a phrase or two that someone else has used.

Now I'm not saying that duplicate content isn't a problem or can't be a
problem. I'm sure that the major search engines have probably dropped
some articles, or maybe even article directories from their primary
search.

This doesn't necessarily mean that it was because of duplicate content.
Unless you ask, you can't be sure.

However, your concern as an article writer shouldn't be about how many
times you have a particular article indexed in the search engines. Your
primary concern should be getting your articles in front of the eyes
of as many readers as you possibly can.

People buy; search engines don't.

This means that you should post your articles to as many article
directories as possible so that your articles have the widest reach possible.

Again, it's about reach.

We all have our favorite article directories, and if your potential
readers don't use the article directories you're posting to, then you've
missed out. You've missed reaching a reader, publisher, or someone else.

The bottom line is about convenience. Make it convenient for your
reader to find your articles.

There's also the issue of providing value. Google's policy is that your
site, and therefore your content, should provide value to those who
are searching for it.

If you concern yourself with providing value for your readers, rather
than just trying to promote your business, or make a sale, it will
definitely make a difference in your bottom line.

Your initial goal should be to find out what your readers are looking
for and then give it to them. Give them what they want. Provide value in
the process.

If you use "White Hat" tactics to promote your business, you'll
succeed, and you'll stay successful long after those who use unethical
techniques fail and disappear.

Your readers won't become your customers if you don't treat them right.
Show them respect. Help them solve their problems. By providing
helpful articles, you can lead your readers to your paid content.

How to Create a Content Rich Website

Author: Kevin Sinclair

If you have a website and you aren't worried about having solid, rich
content, you are missing out on one of the best tools to create revenue
that any website owner could have. Having a content-rich website is a
must when it comes to making any money from the web these days; if you
don't have useful content on your site you don't stand a chance to have
solid revenue coming in from your site and who couldn't use some extra
money?

Article writing is one of the most solid ways of garnering traffic from
the web. This can be done either by your hand or by hiring a
ghostwriter to write the articles for you. This is more of an accepted practice
than it seems, as not everybody has the ability to be a master writer
and that is okay. After all, it is important to write articles because
you want to establish yourself as an expert in your field and if your
articles display a lack of writing ability that can definitely ruin your
chances of being regarded as an expert.

Also, if you are going to have a content rich website that matters, you
have to make sure that your writing is targeted toward a specific
audience, and that it is that specific audience that is going to be going
to and using your website. Create the type of website that your audience
will want to bookmark. You can only do this by finding a niche and
sticking to it, and catering either to a specific audience or everybody.

The only way that a person can create a content rich website is to do
the research. Use research tools like overture to find out what keywords
people are hitting up in search of information pertaining to your
niche and make sure that you make use of the appropriate keywords when it
comes to your content. Without keyword rich content, you can only hope
that word of your site reaches the world by word of mouth, because when
it comes time to use search engines most users will have no idea that
you exist.

You can also drive traffic to your site by using the same search engine
optimization techniques to create content for the article directories.
Article directories are important because they gain valuable backlink
traffic to your site, and people will move from the article to the site
with ease. This is an excellent and cost effective way of helping to
drive website traffic to your site, because most article directories are
free and if you have time, there are tons and tons of directories that
you can submit articles to. As a matter of fact, some services will
even distribute your articles to the directories for you, so you won't
have to worry about having to go through the trouble.

No matter how you use your article content or whether you choose to do
it yourself or hire a ghostwriter, there are certain things that a
content rich website should and should not include in order to be the most
effective for its intended use just as there is a certain way to go
about it.

First of all, make sure to write in short, concise sentences that any
reader can easily understand without having to decipher through a
million and one punctuation marks. Use words that people all over can
understand and try to keep it free of slang or words that only appeal to
people from a certain area of the world or United States; unless they are
pertinent to the particular audience you are looking to get the attention
of.

Also, if you want to keep your reader moving through your article, be
sure to write in short paragraphs of just a few sentences and include as
many lists, headings, and bulleted points as you can; this gets the
attention of the reader the most and makes your content jump out and
matter.

Creating rich content for your website is what is going to matter in
the end. Colorful pictures and a real purpose are great, but rich content
that gets traffic is key to the success of any type of website out
there. Be sure to make your content as rich as it can be, and you will
find that you have more traffic than you ever thought possible.

Making Money Online With Affiliate Marketing

Author: Alan Mater

Affiliate marketing is a system of making money by selling
someone else's products or services and getting paid a
percentage for each sale. If you own a product or service, you
can build your own team of affiliates to help sell them for you,
and you would pay your affiliates for their help. As an
affiliate you can also make money by placing advertisements on
your website or relevant article content with the purpose to
send traffic to the advertiser. The affiliate receives money or
a percentage of money based on how much traffic he or she sends
in the other site owner's direction.

Making money online by way of affiliate marketing has been
gaining in popularity and shows no signs of slowing down. If you
want to make affiliate marketing work for you, then provide
enough incentives for your affiliates to encourage and support
them in their hard work and consistent efforts. The search
optimization firms you hire as well as those who work in the
advertising department are important but so are the affiliates
so figure out how you can pay them as high a commission as
possible because they deserve it.

Affiliate marketing is a way of using one website to bring
focus and attention to another and studies show that it does
work. It is important for affiliate managers to always put their
most creative foot forward by showing plenty of ingenuity when
it comes to how they promote the websites that are part of their
affiliate marketing campaign. Banners, buttons and web links are
all fine and work great but it is important to think outside of
the box in order to drive more traffic to a site.

Here are some promotional creatives that can work wonders when
it comes to affiliate marketing- newsletter ads, classified ads,
product reviews, product photographs, product screenshots,
articles and tips that have embedded affiliate links within
them, email signatures, direct email ads, pay per click ads,
customer testimonials, staff interviews, pop-up/under ads,
rich-media ads and skyscrapers. Take these suggestions and use
them as a starting point. Once you really get thinking outside
of the box a great deal of ideas will come your way to improve
the way you conduct your affiliate marketing campaigns. These
ideas will go a long way in making your affiliate marketing
efforts a tremendous success.

How To Choose An Affiliate Programme Out Of So many

Author: Radiance Johnson

Everyday we are bombarded with all kinds of affiliate
programmes promising heaven and earth and claiming to be your
ultimate recipe for financial success. There are several
ingenious marketers who are daily releasing programmes that
appear to be the answer you need to embark on your journey to
financial freedom. Often times, you are rudely shocked to
realize that the programme you have joined is far from what you
had expected and that your financial investments have gone down
the drain.

Hence the need to ask questions. Let me repeat that it is
absolutely necessary for you to ASK a ton of questions before
you join any affiliate programme as it will save you avoidable
heartache later. Take time to conduct some modest research about
the features of the affiliate programme you are considering as
you are going to be devoting time and financial resources on it.

Some of these questions shall include whether it will cost you
anything to join. However, it is given that this will be free as
most lucrative affiliate programmes that abound today cost you
nothing to join. Therefore do not consider any programme that
requires you to make some payment prior to joining.

Next point to consider will be the hit- per- sale ratio. In
other words how many hits to a banner or text link will you have
to record to record a sale? This is important because it will
assist you to work out the traffic level that is required to
generate a given desired number of sales. And of course it has a
direct bearing on the amount of commissions that you qualify to
be paid by the merchant.

Similarly, you will do well to find out when your earned
commission checks will be ready for collection and how often you
will be paid in a month. How many sales will you have to record
to be entitled for a commission check? What is the minimum
amount required for the commission check to be issued? Anyway,
you have to choose the option that you feel is the most suitable
to you.

The next question for which you must find an answer before you
decide on any affiliate programme is the accuracy of the
tracking system. How are referrals from an affiliate's site
tracked? Will the tracking system remain long enough such that
when ever a prospect that you refer decides to purchase several
weeks later you will still be credited with that sale? You must
therefore find a programme that has a good tracking system that
has this capacity.

Another important parameter that you should also consider is
the group of affiliate statistics that are available to you from
the merchant processing system. Such statistics should be
detailed covering all relevant indices and available online real
time 24/7. This will assist you in determining and monitoring
your progress or lack thereof. Naturally, you will be very much
interested in the average daily hits, impressions, sales and the
like as these data are important in deciding whether you should
modify your ads, banners etc.

You can also, depending on the nature of the affiliate
programme, find out whether you can also be paid for hits and
impressions in addition to the sales recorded. This is
particularly important where the programme you are associated
with offers low sales – to- hit ratio.

A very important consideration in choosing your affiliate
programme is the percentage of commission that is paid out to
the affiliates per sale. Considering the fact that it costs
virtually the same effort and financial resources to promote
your affiliate programmes you must insist on reasonably adequate
commission payments. 50% appears to be the dominant practice
these days but anything higher will be appreciated.

Similarly, is the affiliate programme a one-tier or two-tier
programme? A one-tier affiliate programme pays you only for the
sale that you personally generate while the two-tier programme
pays you for the business generated by your sponsored affiliate.

Infact, some programmes even pay what could be termed
recruitment fees in order to inspire affiliates to exert
themselves in getting more sign-ups.

It is equally important to try and know your merchant better.
Determine if they are a solid company and their basic line of
business and their products. Your research should also assist
you to determine their relative standing in that particular
niche and how easy it would be for you to successfully market
their product and make some money in the process.

All said, these are only some of the basic questions you must
find answers to before you jump into any particular affiliate
programme. They are by no means exhaustive but are only supposed
to provide with the basic guidance you need before making your
choice out of the cacophony of claims and promises that abound
on the internet. Whatever the case, however, you must be ready
to work your business to success like many have been able to
achieve and are financially happier for it.

Building Backlinks That The Search Engines Love
Author: Kevin Sinclair

Building backlinks to your website is highly recommended in the
Internet marketing community these days. This practice is especially helpful
for the purpose of drawing organic (read "free") traffic to your
website. And, if you don't have traffic to your site, you don't have much if
earning money is your goal.

By building backlink to your website, you benefit in a number of ways.
First, your placement in the search engines can improve, since the
number of backlinks pointing to a website appears to have considerable
impact on search engine ranking (love). Second, you may also attract
traffic, as visitors on the other sites see your link and click over to see
what you're offering.

The rest of this article will focus on several backlink building
methods that are great for beginners and experienced marketers alike.

Social Bookmarking

There are now literally thousands of social bookmarking sites. These
sites offer an opportunity to bookmark all of the websites (including
yours) that you find interesting and want to keep track of. Bookmarking
your site often means you're creating a backlink too.

Website Directories

These also are in great supply. These sites are storehouses for
information about all sorts of websites, sorted by topic. Many allow you to
submit your website for inclusion for free and create a backlink if your
website is accepted.

Link Exchanges

These are also known as reciprocal links. You allow me to put my link
on your website and I allow you to include your link on my site.
Reciprocal links are considered more valuable if they are placed on a website
whose theme is relevant to yours.

Blog Comments

Many blog owners welcome readers' comments in reaction to their posts.
The reader can generally include a website link along with their
comment, creating a backlink. Just watch out for blogs that include the "no
follow" tag because then the backlink won't count.

Press Releases

Submitting a press release entails writing up a short news story about
your website or some of its content. It's a who, what, when, where, and
how of something likely to be of interest to the media. As with many
of these methods, there are free and paid options. Of course you include
a link to your site in your content.

Article Marketing

Some say article marketing is the best method to draw free traffic and
ultimately lots of backlinks. The webmaster writes an article on a
topic relevant to their site and submits it to one or more article
directories with a resource box incorporating links pointing back to the
website.

Link Networks

These are typically private networks of blogs or websites on which
members can post content which includes a link to their website. Often the
blogs that are available in these networks have a fairly high page
rank, say PR5-PR7, which is an attractive feature. The value of a backlink
can increase if it is placed on a webpage with a higher page rank

Using all of these methods at the same time to create backlinks might
lead to being scattered and ineffective. If you're interested in
building links to your website, start with one method, complete it thoroughly
and then move to another.

Of course some of the techniques, like article marketing, are never
complete. There is always room for more, so intersperse this with other
link building methods. With some concerted effort you will be able to
create hundreds or thousands of backlinks to your website and really feel
the search engine love.

Discover Kevin Sinclair's system for making profits regardless of
whether anyone joins your network marketing business.

Duplicate Content - How To Beat Duplicate Content Penalties When

Author: Elaine Currie

Duplicate Content - How To Beat Duplicate Content Penalties When Publishing Articles Online
The talk about duplicate content penalties often creates
misunderstanding in the minds of inexperienced webmasters
who end up with the impression that their whole website
will be de-indexed if it contains a phrase to be found
elsewhere online. Some of them get the idea that if their
websites include pages containing other people's articles,
the weight of the penalties imposed on those pages will
drag their whole website down into obscurity. This is not
how the duplicate content penalty works; it's brutal but
not quite that brutal.

One reason why search engines filter duplicate content is
to keep search results free from unhelpful duplication.
Therefore, any web page that has a significant amount of
text that already exists online, will not make it to the
top of search results.

(This avoids the situation where a search would bring up
pages and pages of the same "cookie cutter" websites.) So,
if you write an article and submit it for publishing at 100
online article directories, even though it might show up on
page one of a Google search, the search won't produce a
result consisting of 100 instances of your article (ie one
at each of the web directories where it is posted) in the
first 10 pages. In the case of a recently published
article, it might appear several times in a search result
but, over time, most of the duplicate entries will be
weeded out and moved to the supplemental index (aka "Google
Hell").

In theory the way duplicate content filters work (I say "in
theory" because the system is far from 100% perfect) is
that the website where the article was first posted will be
recognised as the original. So, if you write an article and
want to get your website in the search results and you also
want to distribute your article to article directories, you
need to make sure the search engines know where they saw it
first. The way to do this is to post the article on your
website, wait a few days and then check by doing searches
with the major search engines to see if your page has been
indexed. Once you know the search engines have indexed your
page, you can submit your article to the article
directories.

Make sense so far? Here comes the part that makes the
system less than 100% perfect. Google's filters don't take
the date of first online publication of an article into
account when deciding which website has the best claim to
the article. They use the number of links back to a website
to ascertain the importance of any website carrying the
article. So, if your article is published on a high ranking
article directory, you will most likely find that is what
will appear in a search result while your web page
containing the original of your article has been demoted to
the supplemental index.

Is there a way to get your web pages recognised as being
original? Yes, by having unique content. Is there a way to
rescue your web pages from Google Hell? Yes, the way
things (ie Google's famous secret algorithms) work at the
moment, this can be achieved by building up the number of
links back to your web pages so Google will recognise your
website as being too "important" for Google Hell.

need to get over your fear and go all in and spend money on the big
keywords.

Guru secret number two, the money is in the list. How many times did
you hear someone say that? I am sure you heard it a lot, and it is very
true. Your list means money for you all the time. If you are not
building a list you are not going to make any money. How do you build a list?
Well by using what is called a lead capture page. Simply send traffic
to it collect the users name, email, and phone number. Then send them
emails about your business opportunity.

After a year or so you will come to find that you have a list of well
over a thousand some people all looking to make money online, and
waiting for you to tell them how.

Guru secret number three, making money online is just a numbers game.
Yep making money using a computer is not hard. It is all just about
numbers. The more traffic you send to a site the more money you will make.
It is that easy.

Guru secret number four, brand your self not the business or someone
else. In any business lets face it you need to make a name for your self
so you stand out from others. How do you do this? Make a website that
talks about you and your business opportunity, and explain to people how
you can help them make money.

If you promote your sponsors website all your doing is promoting his
name. People will want to join him not you so what do they do? Well they
type his name into Google and find his website and join him not you.

What about promoting the business website you where giving when you
joined? Wrong answer. Again you are promoting the business. So all people
will do is research the business and find someone to join under.

Guru secret number five, leave a phone number and answer it when
someone calls. People want to talk to someone before they join something.
Every sale I ever made online was because I spoke to the person on the
phone, or had someone do it for me. If you want to make money you must
talk on the phone. If your not going to talk on the phone then good luck
at making money online.

So there you have it five top guru secrets and I am sure you may have
already known them or at least heard people talk about them before, but
you know what? None of that matters because more then likely you will
not take action. If you want to make money or change your life you must
take action and do something about it.

how to make easy money on the Internet

Whenever I hear someone talking about how to make easy money on the Internet, I automatically cringe. You see, until recently all of my efforts to make money on the Internet failed. I have to admit that I am somewhat gullible. In most respects, I am fairly intelligent, but I have a way of falling for scams that is quite unbecoming. There are so many things that I want to believe, and the idea that I can become rich overnight is at the top of the list. In short, I'm exactly the person who the make money online sellers target – naïve, enterprising, and just a little bit desperate.

As a matter of fact, I have tried almost every possible way to make money on the Internet. I tried selling on eBay, which did absolutely nothing for me. I was able to sell a few odds and ends that I have collected over the years, but with the amount of time that I invested in creating an eBay store, I didn't really gain enough to make it worth it. That was one of my more successful attempts to make money online too! Some of the other ones are almost too embarrassing to tell.

Of course, I tried to make money on the Internet through affiliate programs, but I never got more than a few dollars from this. I run a pretty popular blog, and I figured that I could turn all that Web traffic to my advantage. Unfortunately, although it did make a buck or two, I also alienated a lot of my readers with my attempts to make money on the web. You see, it is an environmentalist, anti-consumer blog. Seeing Internet pop-up ads on it was the last thing my readers wanted. The backlash wasn't worth a few bucks.

Come to think of it, I have been completely unable to make money on the Internet except in ways that I made money before the Internet was around. You see, I have dabbled in freelance writing for years and years. The Internet has made it a lot easier for us freelancers. We can find work from the comfort of our own homes, and we don't have to wait for e-mails or telephone calls anymore. If you are a decent writer and pretty good at marketing yourself, this is an easy and obvious method for making money on the Internet. Nevertheless, don't start off thinking that it will make you rich overnight. It simply won't.

internet traffic

Anyone with an ecommerce site is looking for ways to get more Internet traffic. This is something that has been a problem since these types of sites first started up, and they continue to look for new ways to draw people to their sites. Some don’t even have to sell anything to make money, but the best money is indeed in selling something. Some of these sites don’t sell products, but they do have ad space that is affected by how many people come and view those ads, and sometimes a resulting sale, through a link, also means money for them.

One way to get good Internet traffic is to advertise all over the Internet. Some do this with banner ads. Pop up ads used to be the preferred method, but now that so many have pop up blockers on their computers, these are just not as affective as they use to be. Some people are so annoyed with pop ups that they refuse to visit a site that uses them for advertisement. I would imagine that if someone is really interested in what they see, this type of advertisement would indeed generate some Internet traffic, but there are better ways to go about it that might bring in much larger numbers.

Besides straight forward advertising, one of the most popular and affective ways to get Internet traffic to a site is by being sure that the site will rank high on a search engine like Google. There are many search engines online, but this is the one that seems to have the most users. However, others have pull too, so a good site will find ways to rank high on each one so that they can pull in Internet traffic. Most do this by making sure they have content that is read and recognized by the search engines, and that also has good keyword density.

If you find that you are not getting the Internet traffic that you think you should be getting, you may want to turn to someone who specializes in building and maintaining sites online for help. They know the tricks of the trade, and they can tell you why your Internet traffic might be low, and what you

You CAN make money with Google adsense.

Everyone is striving to earn a buck in this capital-based world we share. We all need to make ends meet and hopefully save a little for the future. That's the routine as we know it. As it has been for years now, the question is still "How do I do this?' What is the best way to earn a living in 2007 and actually enjoy what I'm doing on a daily basis? This of course depends on the individual. Now, I can tell you one extraordinary way tons of people are making a living or at least earning some extra dough. It's called being a web publisher. You CAN make money with Google adsense.
The word adsense may be a bit foreign to some. It definitely was to me a couple years ago. I couldn't have told you a single thing about building websites or Internet ads that earn revenue. But today is completely different. I've realized what many people before me. One can make money with Google adsense just by creating websites. Just so you know, it's not challenging to acquire a Google adsense account. You can literally do it within minutes. Then comes the money-making. To put it all in layman's terms, you basically do this; build decent websites, write quality material for them, and then place relevant ads on the websites. When Internet browsers spot your page, they can click on the ads, and this causes you to earn revenue. Your earnings are later dispersed to your Google adsense account, and then finally to you. It probably sounds totally bizarre, but this is a legitimate way that people make money with Google adsense and the Internet.

Trust your gut! Who cares if you've never tried this before? This is where every web publisher begins. You have to take hold of the reigns and get in the game. This is an excellent way to supplement your income, or just make extra cash in your free time. Some folks even go all-out and do this for a living. They make money with Google adsense and have the freedom to work totally from their homes. Does this sound like a career move for you? Well stop wasting time, and start earning revenue! There's a sea of cyberspace possibilities waiting for you out there.

want to make money on the Internet

There are many people who want to make money on the Internet. After all, who wouldn’t? There are some great ways to bring in a few extra dollars every month just by following some simple steps. Most of the options allow you can make money on the Internet but this is mostly extra cash.

My Lot is a relatively new program. This is a great option for people who love discussion forums and online chat rooms. If you find yourself contributing regularly to forums then My Lot is a wonderful place for you to make money on the Internet. You won’t make a bundle but it’s better than nothing.

I wouldn’t recommend My Lot to anyone who doesn’t normally contribute to forums and chat rooms. This program works well for people who are going to engage in this online activity anyway. You make money on the Internet but it is very little money. However, if you are going to post in forums, you might as well make a little cash in the meantime.

Paid-to-Click programs offer cash in exchange for your time. All that is required of you is a moment visiting a site. The payout for these programs may seem impossible to reach. Many make you wait until you have earned 20 or 50 dollars. This takes a long time even if you spend a lot of time clicking and searching.

Some people just don’t have the time to engage in paid to click programs and they don’t have the time to make a few cents to post in forums. There are those who want to make money on the Internet in other ways. Blogging may be the solution for the less patient.

There are a handful of ways that you can make money on the Internet through a blog. Start by creating a site that offers resources and valuable information to the readers. Sign up for AdSense. This program pays you every time someone clicks on an advertisement on your blog and this is a pretty sound way to make money on the Internet.
If you have consistent information then the ads will appeal to many of your regular readers. Some bloggers even have a “donate” button on their sites. This option is reserved strictly for blogs that offer valuable resources like job leads.

These make money on the Internet options are great for spare change but if you really want to earn a steady income online you really want to look deeper into other options. There are many work-from-home opportunities available but you will have to put forth considerable effort to get a position. This is true for any good job.

How To Write A Good Sales Letter

Author: Scott White

If you are trying to capture the attention of consumers, then a good
sales letter has the potential to produce an increase in profits, as well
as capturing new leads. But how do you write a good sales letter? The
basis to writing a good sales letter comes down to, grammar,
punctuation, substance, value, integrity, and targeting. Sales letters without
these components are not worth the paper they are printed on, even if it
is paperless cyberspace.

We will lump grammar and punctuation together to save time and space
for discussing the rest of the points to writing a good sales letter, but
you would be surprised by the number of people who do not respect the
importance of using the correct grammar without spelling mistakes, and
the proper punctuation within their writing. Use your computer to write
your sales letter as most word or document writing programs have a
spell check feature. Invest in such a program for your computer if your
document program does not have spell checking capability. Also check out
a book at the library and relearn how and where in writing to use
punctuation.

Substance is also very important when writing a good sales letter. Your
letter needs to say something. A bad one uses lots of glossy words
that really do not say much of anything. The overuse of glossy words says
to the reader that the writer is trying to distract the them from
really learning what they need and want to know about the company or product
represented.

When writing a good sales pitch make sure to fully explain why your
product or service is of value to those reading it. Provide examples,
testimonials, and comparisons to similar competitors to explain why product
or service is better than theirs and why what you have to offer is of
better value to readers who could become potential customers.

A good letter adheres to a high standard of integrity in presenting the
truth without the added fluff you see in many sales letters. If what
you have to offer has a real usefulness to others, that is enough to
create a high demand for it. There is no reason to overstate the
usefulness or quality, because truthful information has always resulted in
higher sales and profits, and captured more new leads than those other types
and they always will.

Targeting is very important. You know what you want to sell others on
the idea of buying or joining in on, but do you know who your target
audience is? Do you know what is important to them when making purchases
and membership decisions? Do you know where to find your target
audience?

The internet is a great research tool for finding the answers to these
questions. Talking to family, friends, and contacts to learn what they
hope to find in the sales letters they read can also be very helpful.
You should be able to answer in the affirmative to all of these
questions even before you sit down and begin writing.

Draft your letter with grammar, punctuation, substance, value,
integrity, and targeting in mind and your it will be much more likely to get
the results you are looking for. Look to the web and its many resources
such as tutorials, articles, and e-books for more information and tools
to help improve your skills for writing a good sales letter. This is
learning that you can use in all of your business and personal writing
endeavors.

Title: Using Article Marketing to Boost your PageRank

Article marketing has always been the most effective way to promote
your online business and increase your pagerank. It is the least expensive
way to promote and will always be worth every cent. This method to
ensure success will continue for many years in the future.

Articles are a vital part of any online marketing plan. Once the
article is written and published, it travels to many article banks which
provide back links to your site. From there, owners of other websites copy
the article, making sure that the author's information is intact. They
then publish it in their newsletters, ezines or even on their websites.
Take pride in writing your articles and you will find them to be more
productive for you and your business.

Since your article has your resource box containing a link to your
site, it will generate a great deal of exposure and traffic to your
website. The good thing about article marketing is that the viral nature of
generating back links constantly improves your popularity and pagerank.
The article acts like a virus, attaching your information to every site
where it is used. The better the quality of your article the more it
will be used by others to create the backlinks and increased pagerank
that you need.

Article marketing accomplishes other things as well, which may be a bit
more important in ecommerce today. First of all, writing and
distributing articles establishes you as an expert in the field, or topic in
question. Secondly, they can serve as building blocks of trust amongst the
readers of your articles.

Most successful Internet companies usually distribute at least one
article per week to a number of different article banks. Some businesses
will distribute the same article that they used in their newsletter, but
only after the letters have gone out to subscribers.

Some business owners hire ghostwriters to write the articles for their
article marketing and for their website content. This practice provides
them with more time for other business activities. Ghostwriters have
to capture the style and personality of the owner in their writing. This
can be challenging at times, but usually pays off pretty well if
combined with excellent article marketing.

A successful business will only use and publish well written articles
that are informative. Some writers err in trying to write articles as
sales letters. This greatly reduces the value to other publishers and
article users, and the benefit of viral article marketing is lost.

In summary, articles are intended to be informative letters sent out to
get readers to visit the article marketer's website and to increase
pagerank. They should also provide helpful information as well as include
a link to the website in the resource box.

website traffic

One thing that anyone who has their own site online is worried about is how to get website traffic. Though for many, this is essential for business reasons, even those who just have a small personal site want others to stop by and visit. This is something that has been important since the web became popular with the general public, and it is something that might never change. What does change, however is the ways people draw this traffic to their sites.

When I was first online, I noticed a lot people simple begging others to come visit their sites. This was how many thought they were going to get website traffic. Granted, back then, no one really knew what to do and how to get people to their sites. There were many searches, but I can’t seem to remember if Google was around then or not. I do know that it was hard to find what you were looking for most times, and the begging for website traffic couldn’t last long. It was very annoying and even the people doing it knew it. There are still some that do it, but most people have taken a different approach.

Today, people go about finding website traffic in much different ways. Some still visit forums and post links to their sites, and this does work well on a small scale. However if you are looking for huge website traffic numbers, you are going to have to do something else. One thing is advertising, and some like to do this. Google’s Adsense program is a good one. This uses the keywords in content to place relevant ads on the site. Some drive in traffic simply by using the right keywords.

No matter how you go about getting website traffic, you can keep tabs on who is visiting by getting software that tracks visitors. You will not see names and addresses, of course, but you can see city, state, and country, and you can also see how long they were there and what pages they visited. This can help you decide who is coming, and what is working on your site and what is being skipped over. This will help tailor any site to what the visitor wants. When they get what they want, they are more likely to come back. Even though you are not getting any personal information about these people, make sure they do not know they are being tracked. They may think the worst, even though you aren’t getting anything other than basic activity information.

Computer viruses

There is nothing more clouded in mystery and media hype then the humble computer virus. Computer viruses, supposedly, have been responsible for practically every technological ill and glitch in the past decade. In reality, however, the computer virus is a simple creature. If you take adequate precautions, stay away from websites that you do not trust, and do not open e-mail attachments from people that you don't know, you can protect yourself from almost every computer virus out there.

This doesn't mean that sane, cautious behavior is a substitute for having the right computer software. The two approaches complement each other. At the very least, you need the latest computer anti virus software installed on your desktop. Many people get computer virus scans not realizing that they have to update their software continually. Several times a year, a new Internet worm or Trojan horse virus is released, preying on insecure computer systems that are not protected. If you have a computer firewall, antivirus program, and updated Windows partition, you will be fine. Otherwise, you could be in trouble. Computer viruses cause millions and millions of dollars of damage every year. Although no one knows the exact figure, we do know that easily preventable computer virus infections account for huge amounts of personal and financial loss. Don't be another victim – protect yourself from computer viruses.

This doesn't mean that you should download the first spyware remover or virus protection program that you find. One of the sneakiest computer virus tricks ever made is to pose as a spyware protection program. These Trojan horse viruses come into your computer as anti virus programs. That way, they do not have to sneak in on their own – you install them yourself. They then can hijack your system, using it to send out spam, crashing it, destroying the data, or any combination of the above. Only get a computer antivirus from a trusted provider. Never just simply download one because it comes up on the Internet.

Of course, you can be protected from the computer virus without completely eliminating your vulnerability to spyware. Although every once in awhile a computer virus comes around that causes a lot of trouble, most of the minor computer problems that people have from day to day are caused by spyware. It slows down your web browser, makes your computer less stable and less private, and generally makes your life miserable. In addition to a computer virus scan, you also need to get a spyware removal tool.

mcafee internet security suite

If you have a computer that is connected to the Internet, you have to have some anti-virus software and a firewall running at all times. If you don’t, you are just asking for trouble. The other day my husband found a virus on our computer that was made to capture our keystrokes. That means that someone might find out all of the passwords that I put into the many sites I visit each day. Luckily for us, even though our anti-virus failed, our firewall did not. This convinced my husband that the McAfee Internet Security Suite that we had on our computer was not enough. We needed something more.

That is not that that McAfee Internet Security Suite is not good. We got this through our provider, and we think it works just fine. The problem is that it did not catch this particular virus, and that is something that can happen with any software. My husband uses the desktop now, and I have my own computer, and he was never good about allowing the McAfee Internet Security Suite updates to come through our firewall.

Anymore, it is a good idea to have more than one anti-virus on your computer. What one might not catch, the other might get. There are just so many different viruses and other problems popping up that it is hard for anyone to keep up. Those who make McAfee Internet Security Suite have to find everything and figure out how to catch it before it can reach your computer, and that might be harder than it sounds. There are times when something can slip through. If you have two, you are going to be doubly protected.

If you didn’t get McAfee Internet Security Suite with your Internet service like I did, you can find it online or in your local software store. You might want to make it one of two, as I have mentioned, and use the firewall if it comes with one. I am not sure if ours did, as I use a different firewall entirely. You should find and use everything you can to protect your computer and your information. Now that more and more services are now online, more and more thieves are trying to get a hold of your money and your information. If you think about how much banking, investing, buying, and selling we do online, you can see why thieves find it to be such a temptation.

How To Make Money On Line

Most people used to think that there was no easy secret to how to make money. If you asked anyone how to get money, they would say work a straight job, work hard, and advance in your career. Of course, you can still make money through hard work alone, but more and more people look for shortcuts nowadays. Although get rich quick ideas have always been popular, the Internet has made them a bigger deal than ever. There are many different ways to make money online that, even a decade ago, people would never have dreamed of.

One of the easiest and most classic ways to make your money work for you is by making high stakes investments. Investing in stocks, real estate, business ventures, or other areas of human endeavor is a great way to make extra money. Even if you only have a few hundred dollars to invest, if you are wise about it (and a little bit lucky) you can turn it into thousands practically overnight. Of course, this technique is not without risk. Anyone who tells you they have a secret to how to make money and that it is a risk free, guaranteed venture is not being entirely honest with you.

Of course, if you like to work from home, there are a lot of ways to make money on the Internet that you might not have thought of. There are some people who know how to make money in second life or other online games. This might seem strange to you if you've never seen it in practice, but it really works. People can make thousands of dollars overnight by selling various goods and services in virtual worlds. Even if these services have no real world correlate, people will pay real money for them.

You can also use Google Adwords to make money. If you have a popular blog, you are wasting your time if you aren't making some money on it. Even if your blog isn't at all related to any commercial products, there are still many experts on how to make money who will tell you that it can be a gold mine if utilized property. It takes patience and dedication, but I have seen it done before. There are people who have made millions simply doing what they love and letting the money roll in. With a little bit of creativity and ingenuity, this could be you!

Article Title: Start A Home Business Selling Items On Ebay
Author: Robert Williams

Pretty much everyone has items within their home, garage or storage
shed that they don't want or need anymore. We all would like to get rid of
the "stuff" we've accumulated over the years, but we would also like
to make some money from it in the process. You would be surprised at the
items you have around the house that you can resell on ebay.

Have you considered this as a home business? Many people sell unwanted
items on eBay: the most popular internet auction website. Some clever
entrepreneurs have even started a business selling other people's items
on eBay. If you have e-bay know-how, you are guaranteed to find plenty
of people with stuff to sell which you could get a commission for
selling it on ebay in their behalf. Being the neighborhood ebay garage sale
specialist would definitely spread around town fast. People love
convenience. You, without a doubt, would have plenty of callers willing to
share a commission with you if you can find a buyer for that old juke box
in the garage or anything else people just don't have time to get rid
of themselves.

How does one start a business selling their stuff on eBay?

Set up an account with eBay. The site will help you step-by-step with
how to do this. Then, begin by selling some small items you have lying
around. Each time you buy or sell on eBay, you build your ranking within
the eBay community and you become more trustworthy to potential
buyers. Of course, you will be challenged to handle dissatisfied customers
but who doesn't.

Once you get the hang of selling on eBay, you can research which items
are popular and how much they're going for and build from that.

Does it cost a lot to startup a business like this?

No. Besides the items to sell, you only need access to a computer with
an internet connection and a digital camera to take pictures of the
items you are selling. If you already have access to these things, it
won't cost you anything. That's the appeal of ebay: the world's largest
garage sale.

When selling your items on eBay, you incorporate the shipping costs
into the selling price, so even that won't come out of your pocket.

Do you need a lot of skills to do this?

Auction sellers who take the time to write good product descriptions
and take many photographs sell more products than those who do not.
You'll also develop research skills as you learn your way around eBay and
dig into other auctions to find ideas for items that sell well and
command a good price. Beyond that, it's pretty simple to get going.

Once you have gotten some experience selling your stuff on eBay, you
could start checking out garage sales, flea markets, etc. Some items
could be picked up cheaply and sold on eBay for a nice little profit.

And finally, you can look into wholesale sources for items to sell or
delve into the arena of drop shipping.

What's Wrong With Your Promotions?
By Larry Johnson

How many times have you been frustrated with your promotional
efforts online?

Let's face it...most folks working online are amateurs when it
comes to promotion. They simply don't come to the internet
prepared with the tools, experience and background in
advertising and promotion.

The learning curve can be pretty steep when it comes to
learning to promote effectively. There is a wealth of
information and resources available on promotion.

In fact there are so many helpful sites and resources that it
is very easy to become confused with the whole process.

Searching the internet for promotion resources provides you
with lots of sites and gurus who will promise you the moon in
exchange for your hard-earned dollars.

I have a desktop full of software and promotional items that
for the most part go un-used. If I had the money back that I
have invested in them, my wife and I would be able to vacation
for two weeks in CanCun.

Finding a few dependable sites and trusted webmasters who will
act as a mentor in your learning process is one good tactic to
consider.

Personally, I have developed a small group of allies online
that I can rely on to discuss problems, find answers and bounce
my ideas off of them.

You will discover that the old adage, "Never get in a hurry to
buy or sell.", is still true today. You can easily run out of
money buying this and that amazing promotional gimmick,
software, service or product.

There is plenty to buy online, but there are tons of fr*e
resources available too.

Here are a few suggestions as you work through the process.

-- Be Organized

Set aside some time each day to work on your promotions. Don't
get caught up in surfing the net or other time-wasters.

-- Be Observant

What are other successful sites doing to promote their
businesses. If it works for them, chances are it will work for
you too.

-- Be Creative

There are lots of ways to promote. Not all of them have been
used yet. Do some brain-storming each day to get the creative
thoughts flowing.

-- Be Determined

Working online can be downright discouraging for many who
expected to find the gold at the end of the rainbow just by
building a site and throwing up some affiliate links.

While the learning curve for learning to promote effectively
online is a steep one, you can do it with some determination and
with little damage to your pocketbook by being selective in the
resources you choose to use.

Where will your promotional efforts be one year from now? Will
you still be doing the same ol' thing? Or are you now ready to
put into practice a plan of action that will bring you some
great results?

An Introduction To Search Engine Optimization And Web Design

By Omaro Ailoch

Create a website and in no time at all you will be receiving visitors, right? Wrong. It can take time before a search engine finds and indexes your site. Once it does, it is by no means any guarantee that you will be one of the first sites listed under your subject. Search engines index billions of pages and even the most obscure subject can have thousands of pages. For example, the American Wirehair cat is extremely rare-only twenty-two were registered with the Cat Fancier's association in 2003. Yet, when I type in “American Wirehair Cat” into Google, it gives me 220,000 pages to choose from. That means there are about 100,000 pages for each cat! Yahoo gave me fewer choices--only 99,100 pages.

So how do you put your webpage at the head of the pack? It all comes down to search engine optimization. Search engine optimization, or SEO, is the term used to describe methods and tricks used that will help improve how search engines rank your page. The higher that your page ranks, the better chance your page will be selected by someone searching, resulting in more traffic to your site.

Search Engines like Google and Yahoo! use complicated, highly guarded algorithms to rank your website that can be so confusing Einstein himself would have trouble figuring it out. Instead of focusing on those issues, let us instead focus on a few basic areas that will help improve your websites ranking.

One final note about search engines: The most popular search engine in July 2006, according to Nielsen NetRatings, was Google. Almost half of the individuals they surveyed used that search engine. Yahoo! came in second with about 24% of users followed by MSN (10%), AOL (6%), and Ask (3%). All other search engines share about 8% of the market. For that reason, this article will focus mainly on Yahoo! and Google.

Keywords

Choosing the right keywords for your page is the most important step in SEO. In actuality, "keywords" usually key phrases since you will be choosing about three or four key phrases for each page of your website and rarely focus on a simple word. It is important that you are specific when picking your phrases. You need to stay away from generic terms such as “cat,” “television,” or “car.” Pick phrases such as “American Wirehair”, “plasma television”, or “Chevy Corvette”. The more specific you can be the higher that your page will be ranked, and the better chance your page will be found by your target audience.

To pick the right phrases, think about what words you would type in when looking for your site. Ask your friends and family members what they would type into the search engine. Understand that television and TV are two different words and not interchangeable in the minds of search engines. Going back to my example of American Wirehair cats, I might choose the keywords of “American wirehair cat”, “Caleb's Cattery”, and “rare cat breeds” for the fictitious site for Caleb's Cattery. Keyword phrases should only be about three to four words long.

Domain Name

If you have not picked a domain name, it is best to pick one that uses at least one of your keywords in it. Use dashes to help separate the words, if desired. A website named http://www.calebs-cattery.com or http://www.calebscattery.com is better than http://www.caleb.com. For even better results, choose something like http://www.calebs-wirehair-cats.com. That said, it is believed that search engines may rank domain names with more two or more hyphens lower because they are usually associated with lower-quality or spam-ridden sites.

Anchor Tags

Anchor tags, also known as anchor text, are the visible hyperlinked text on the page. Search engines typically weigh them heavily. Make sure that your anchor tags contain as many of your keywords as possible. Also, they should not be too long, although there is no limit, and be a clear indication of what the user will find by clicking on it.

Headings

When designing a webpage for search engine optimization, it is important that you use headings (, , ) for your titles instead of graphic images. Search engines weigh headings heavily as an indication of what content to index your pages. Therefore, it is important that your page have headings that include your keywords. Pages without any headings rank lower in search engine results.

Meta Tags

Meta tags help search engines index a website correctly. Although there are quite a few meta tags to choose from, the two most important are description and keywords. If you do not place these two in your heading section of your website, search engines will decide for themselves, usually by taking information from the first text it can find. Here is an example of each of the meta tags.

• meta name="description" content="An introduction to search engine optimization, or SEO, including how to pick and use the right keywords, use meta links, title tags, alt tags, image names, site maps, links, and headings.

• meta name="keywords" content="search engine optimization, SEO, webpage design, choosing keywords, anchor tags, headings, meta tags, title tags, alt tags, image names, site maps, robots.txt, keyword spamming or stuffing, web content development

The description should be about 170 characters long and never exceed 200 characters--including spaces and include all the major keywords for the webpage. Notice that commas separate the keywords and there is no comma after the last keyword in the sequence. Also, try not to repeat a word more than twice in the listing. A lesser important meta tag is the author tag. While it will not help your website be ranked higher, including it will help your company or your name be recognized.

It is critical that your description and keywords are accurate and relate to that page. Listing words or phrases that are not included in the text of the page lowers their relevance ranking. Search engines will rank the relevance of terms based on how many times the term occurs on the page, the position they are located in the document, the length of the document and the “weight” of the search term. Weight is determined by how often and the location of the keyword. Words that appear in the title, headings, and tags are considered heavier than other terms.

Title Tags

Technically, the title is a meta tag but because it is probably the most important one, it is listed separately. It is also what search engines list first, so it should be carefully thought out. Make sure you have a unique title for each of your pages.

The title tag is placed in the header section inside . Most people simply place the name of their site in the title tag, which is not good SEO. Instead, place your most important keywords phrases inside the title tag without listing them. For example, instead of saying “Caleb's Cattery” say, “Caleb's Cattery - Home of the finest rare American Wirehair cats in northern New York”.

Length is also important. Google displays 66 characters of a title tag, cropping between words. For example, in the above example, Google would simply list the title as “Caleb's Cattery - Home of the finest rare American Wirehair cats.” Yahoo! allows much longer titles, up to 120 characters. Therefore, you are best to include a title that is at least 66 characters long and subtitle that is an additional 54 characters long. You also want to consider what will be displayed by web browsers, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, and what would be displayed if a visitor bookmarked your site or on browser indexes. Explorer displays the first 95 characters at the top of the page, the first 48 characters on its tabs, and the first 60 characters in its bookmarks. Mozilla Firefox displays at least 130 characters at the top of its pages, 55 characters on its tabs, and 43 characters on its bookmarks.

Alt Tags and Image Names

Search engines only index text. However, they do index the alt tags associated with images. This is why you should label each image on your website with tags that use your keywords whenever possible and relevant to the image. Do not include alt tags that are simplistic. If Caleb has a picture of a new batch of kittens on his site, the alt tag should list it as “American Wirehair kittens from Caleb's Cattery” instead of “kittens”. Be as specific as possible without going overboard.

File names are another great place to include keywords. While you cannot include spaces in a file name, you can separate your keywords with hyphens (-) or underscores ( _ ), which will be perceived as spaces by search engines. Going back to the above picture, instead of naming it “image1.jpg” list it as “american_wirehair_kittens.jpg” or “wirehair_kittens.jpg”.

Site Maps

Site maps are documents that can be submitted to search engines that help them learn the structure of your site. You need to set up a site map that has a direct link to every page on your site and place a text link to that site map on the index page of your site. You can also submit this site map to search engines such as Yahoo! and Google.

Robots.txt

The robots.txt file is a file that you place on your web server that instructs web robots which directories can or cannot be crawled. A robot is a program that searches the web hypertext structure looking for websites to index. They are also known as web wanderers, web crawlers, or spiders. Robots.txt implements the Robots Exclusion Protocol, which allows the web site administrator to define what parts of the site are off-limits to specific robots. The very basic robots.txt file will simply contain the text:

User-agent: *

Disallow:

This signals that any robot can search all of the pages on your website. If there is a page on your site that you do not want robots to index, simply insert a backslash and list it after disallow. For example, if you want to exclude the page “www.calebscattery.com/friends.html” you would place the following in your robots.txt file:

User-agent: *

Disallow: /friends.html

Once you have created and uploaded your robots.txt file, you can make sure it is valid by going to Robots.txt Checker [http://tool.motoricerca.info/robots-checker.phtml].

Keyword Spamming or Stuffing

Keyword spamming, also known as keyword stuffing, is when irrelevant keywords are included on a webpage in the hopes of attracting unsuspecting surfers to the site. This can be done in a variety of ways such as listing phrases at the bottom of the page, including hidden text on the page, or other methods. This is also the most popular of the “black hat SEO” methods, or unethical search engine optimization.

Search engines are good at recognizing these tactics. Sites that employ these methods are either ranked lower or, in extreme cases, removed altogether from the search engine. Even if the web robot does not recognize your methods, your competitors might and then report you.

Web Content Development

Each page of your site needs to contain at least 250 words, although 500 words would be better. When web robot visit, they will read your site from top to bottom, left to right. For that reason, try to include your keywords very early on in your text and then a few more times within your text. Do not list the words or repeat words

It is also important to note that web robots “count” any html, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), JavaScript or other code listed on the site. Learn and use external style sheets to remove it from your page. It is believed that most robots will only look at the first 80-100 lines of code--including any blank lines you may have included. If your text is buried at the bottom, it might not get included when they index your page.

Spending the time to optimize your site for search engines is as important as developing quality content when it comes to finding and keeping visitors. Having the best site in the world does no one any good if it cannot be found. Good SEO should not change the content of your page or alter it significantly. It will only alter its ranking by search engines.

How To Best Select An Affiliate Program

By David M. Disch

Marketing products and services through the Internet is unquestionably easier and more rewarding compared to traditional marketing methods. With the millions of people worldwide getting online each day, there’s an enormous possibility for a merchant to sell his products and generate huge income.

However, merchandisers are not the only ones who can benefit from online marketing. A booming industry nowadays, provides great opportunity as well to individuals as affiliate marketers. In affiliate marketing, an affiliate marketer doesn’t need to have his own products and services to sell. All he needs to do is to refer people to the merchant’s business site for them to buy the products and thereby, earn a commission.

The key to an affiliate marketer’s success is to choose a good affiliate program and to employ excellent marketing techniques in promoting or selling the products to consumers. Why good and not the best affiliate program? There is no “best affiliate marketing program,” as one program might make one affiliate marketer a millionaire and the other a frustrated marketer. In other words, it can be a success to one and a failure to another. But there certainly is a good affiliate marketing program to start with. How to make it best would now depend on you.

But before you think how you are going to make it best and financially rewarding, first think about how you are going to land on a good affiliate program with the thousands of affiliate marketing opportunities abounding in the Internet today. Try to look into the following tips and suggestions on how to best select the affiliate program that’s right for you.

Information, that’s you need in order to make the right choice. It is helpful when you have already focused your search to a specific interest, which may be the theme of your website (if you already have one). In this way, you would be able to direct yourself towards a program that really matches your needs, wants and resources. It would be easier for you to eliminate options that are not suited to your own criteria for a good affiliate marketing program. You can join affiliate forums and learn some tips and get suggestions from experienced affiliate marketers. However, be wise enough to weigh their ideas before you buy them.

The Internet Affiliate marketing program networks are good places to look for choices. Here, merchants and affiliate marketers like you meet. The merchants advertise their affiliate programs to interested affiliates who sign up in the network for free. Third party affiliate program networks are helpful since they provide you with access to a large number of advertisers (merchandisers) simultaneously. You can easily track and compare their sales records, performances, benefits, products and services.

So now you have choices, the next question is which among those options is the right one. Here are some things to consider in deciding which to take and which to reject. First is the quality of the products and services. As an affiliate marketer your goal is not only to make visitors of your site click the link to the business site; but more importantly, to promote the product so they would buy it. If the customers are not convinced upon going to the business site, then you don’t earn. Make sure the products you are endorsing are worthwhile or in the business context, saleable. Ask yourself: if I were the customer, would I buy it? Would I recommend it to my family or good friend? If you can’t convince yourself or your family and friends to buy it, take a look at your next option.

Another is the affiliate program or the merchandiser’s history. Look into their previous and present sales data, their proven and tested affiliate marketing systems and their partners’ experiences with them. Although, success of the program really depends on you, this one is still very important. The sales records don’t only show how good the affiliates are, but they speak about the products’ reliability, market availability and the company or the merchandisers’ reputation as well. Moreover, look into and carefully study the company’s compensation plan. Your purpose for joining the program is to earn, so make sure you’ll be paid for all your efforts fairly.

If you do not have much time to promote intensively the affiliate products by creating banners, graphics and articles, choose affiliate programs that help you create these for your web site. It would be great if the company provides training on how to effectively market products online. Remember that affiliate marketing is a partnership, so make sure your partner is able to support you as you help him promote his products and services.

Take down all the advantages and disadvantages of each program you are considering so you can clearly see the difference among your options; then later, compare the advantages of the programs with your own checklist. Take time to gather all the info you need to choose the right program. Remember an informed choice is the best choice.

10 Free Or Low Cost Ways To Generate Traffic To Your Website

By Terry Dean

Webmasters are always looking for ways to generate free traffic to their sites. Because of this, you can find advice on this subject on thousands of websites. But just how good is that advice?

Too often any advice on generating traffic is given with an ulterior motive behind it. Or you're given advice about some whiz bang superduper new system for generating traffic by some type of spamming (spamming blogs, search engines, email, etc.).

Here are 10 low cost methods of generating traffic that will stand the test of time. They're based off of giving value instead of spamming and taking advantage of others.

1. Publish Good Keyword Rich Content on Your Site

Search engine optimization is a popular subject and there are all kinds of experts ready to teach you exactly what to do. Systems have come...and systems have gone.

Publishing good keyword rich content on your website has lasted the test of time. While spamming techniques constantly fall by the wayside. Good content will continue to be the primary way to generate free traffic from search engines.

2. Write and submit good articles.

The Internet is based on content. I've used this method for a decade now to drive traffic to my sites. Take a portion of the content you create and submit it to article directories and lists for ezine publishers.

This is a primary traffic driver for a large number of businesses. Even when it's not one of your main tools, it still drives some of the most qualified and highly valuable visitors you'll have at your site. If you haven't been producing articles, then why not?

3. Publish a Blog

Even corporations have jumped on the blogging bandwagon. This is based on the same principles already given. You have a simple tool to create and add content to your site. You also are provided with tools to network with others online and share in each other's information.

Start a blog. Add other blogs to your links. Visit and comment on other's posts. Become a part of the blogosphere, and take part in the discussions by watching where other blogs are going with their discussions.

4. Send a Press Release

Very few small business owners take advantage of the media's willingness to spread their story. Write a press release or hire someone to write it for you. Then publish it on a site such as Prweb.

Because of the low costs involved in sending out press releases, this should become a part of your monthly promotional plan. What's the big news this month? What big stories are in the media that you can piggyback on or identify with?

5. Participate on Discussion Boards

Find discussion boards in your niche. Participate in them regularly. Instead of promoting, be an expert who helps those on the site. Give them advice. Answer questions. Help beginners in your niche.

At the bottom of all your postings, you can have a link to your website. When I've followed this, I've been surprised at just how many visitors you get through these little links at the bottom of your postings. Plus, you're building a relationship with these visitors before they even get to your site.

6. Start a Link Campaign

Want more search engine traffic? Create more incoming links to your site. Many of the strategies we've already mentioned do this...a blog, article submissions, press releases, and links on discussion boards. They're all incoming links.

You can also take another step and activiely search for sites to link to you. You can do a simple search on Google for "link:http://www.acompetitor.com" to find sites linking to your competition. Contact them and find a way to get them to link to you as well.

7. Create a "Viral" Video

Video is part of the future of the Internet. Where we used to talk about viral ebooks, now we talk about viral videos. Create an informational or entertaining video and use sites such as Google Video and Youtube.com to distribute it for you.

Make sure to include your web address on the video. Create multiple short videos. Look into the communitites being built up on these video sites, and find a way to tap into the ongoing video discussions.

8. A Good Offer on Your Business Card

This is a simple one. The entire backside of my card is an offer for a free report you receive at my website for subscribing to my newsletter. It has the headline and several bullet points along with the URL for the site.

This simple strategy is so effective that I've attended seminars where I've seen quite a few people have printouts of my free report the second day. They took my card and signed up for my list that night! Are you using this simple strategy with people you meet?

9. Start An Affiliate Program

If you don't know about affiliate programs, then you've been hiding in a cave. FOr many successful businesses, the affiliate program equals much higher than 50% of their sales. Running your own affiliate program is the killer traffic generation tool.

An affiliate program gives you the ability to tap into other people's traffic, other people's lists, and other people's customer relationships. No matter what you're selling, you should find a way to put an affiliate program into the mix.

10. Set-up Joint Ventures

Joint ventures include affiliate programs, but they also go beyond them. Who can you trade an article with? Who could you run co-op advertising with? Who could you trade ads with? How can you help others while generating traffic for your own site?

You might have your "normal" offer on your site that all affiliates refer their visitors to. How can you set-up a special deal with better pricing, more bonuses, or some other type of special offer for the customers of a large opt-in list or buyer's list? If you want a surge of new sales, find a way to create exclusive deals at times.
